My moon memories

July 25th, 2009

I remember loving the moon when I was a kid. I was born in 66 so I got to appreciate the Apollo programs talk.  Looking at my parents Life magazine. The special edition “To the moon and back.” I also remember my mother saying “Look kids we are on the moon, we have astronauts on the moon!” As we watched our black and white tv.  Not sure which moon landing that was. It could have been Apollo 11. I would have only been three but that is how old I think I was.  All I know is the moon was a big deal. The astronauts were a big deal. I enjoyed it. And with the 40th Anniversary of walking on the moon for the first time it has renewed my feelings of the moon. I want to keep thinking and dreaming with the innocense of the moon from this day forward. I think we all should. Step away from the complexities and clutter of life that we all have come to know and find a calmness with positive thoughts of moon ideas and all that goes with it.

I think we should build on the moon.  Look what was spent on the international space station.  A closed ecological system. A dome would be nice.  Maybe this won’t happen anytime soon but it is sure fun to think about it.

Do you think we should go back to the moon? Is it worth the billions of dollars that it will take to go? Maybe we should make it a worldwide event.  Instead of just the United States of America’s flag there will be various nations from around the world. Would you like your country’s flag on the moon?
